Firms in Bataan Freeport now allowed to hire workers at capacity

MARIVELES, Bataan––The Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) has allowed all companies inside the economic zone to hire workers at 100-percent of their capacities after a sharp decline in the number of factory workers getting infected with COVID-19.

Karen Balmaceda Padaoan, FAB senior information officer, said the ecozone’s public health consultant, Dr. Noel Bernardo, gave the go-signal to FAB firms to increase their workforce and continue to practice health protocols.

“It is important that we protect workers and stakeholders, but we also consider the improvement of economic activities in the ecozone,” said Bernardo.

The latest data showed that FAB has 37,379 workers in about 90 companies.
