‘We are always running scared,‘ says Sara Duterte
MEXICO, Pampanga, Philippines — “Confidence? There’s none of that because we are always running scared. That should be our mindset,” Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, speaking in a mix of Filipino and English, told reporters when asked about her chances of winning the vice presidential race.
“There’s no certainty of winning until you’re proclaimed,” she added.
As to how her campaign with former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was going, she said it was “okay” and their camp would continue to conduct rallies in various part of the country.
Based on the latest Pulse Asia survey released in March, Duterte-Carpio is leading the vice presidential race with 53 percent.
She is followed by Senate President Vicente Sotto III who garnered 24 percent, Sen. Francis Pangilinan with 11 percent, Dr. Willie Ong with 6 percent, and House Deputy Speaker Lito Atienza with 1 percent.
Meanwhile, Marcos continues to lead the presidential race with 60 percent, followed by Vice President Leni Robredo with 15 percent.
The face-to-face survey asked 2,400 registered voters from Feb. 18 to 23 which candidate they would vote for as president if the May elections were to be held on the day they were questioned.
The survey has a ± 2% error margin with a 95% confidence level.
