Comelec may proclaim most of local winners by Tuesday

MANILA, Philippines—The Commission on Elections (Comelec) could proclaim most of the winners for local positions by Tuesday, its spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said.

“For local positions, best case scenario is tomorrow, most of them will be able to proclaim,” Laudiangco told reporters in a Viber message on Monday night.

The transmission of the partial and unofficial election returns of 16 cities and one municipality in Metro Manila has either been completed or is nearing completion, according to Comelec’s transparency server.

More than two-thirds of the election returns of all independent cities have been also transmitted, the poll body’s server also indicated.
