Canadian Immigrant in-person fairs are back after a long COVID break!

The first in the 2022 series, Canadian Immigrant hiring fair, tradeshow and inspirational speakers’ series, held in Halifax on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, was a resounding success with 30 sold-out booths, close to 500 attendees and a buzz of activity.

Attendees had the opportunity to spend the day speaking with settlement agencies, learning about career opportunities and networking with other participants.

This diverse group of attendees, dealing with the added challenges caused by COVID-19, ranged from job seekers, newcomers looking for settlement advice and internationally trained professionals looking for opportunities.

Our dynamic speakers’ program at the Fair offered inspiration, motivation and information on finding success in Canada. Sessions included a presentation by Cassidy Sholl and Anna McBeth from the Immigrant Services Association of Nova Scotia (ISANS) on finding meaningful employment and bridging programs and services; an overview of resources and strategies to face common challenges by social media influencer and immigration consultant Sherifat Onobanjo who shared her personal experiences; and a presentation by HR specialist Ramya Rangale on qualities and her strengths to thrive in a new career path in Canada.

As always, a very popular offering at the Fair was the Resumé Clinic. Experienced employment counsellors critiqued resumés and provided free one-on-one advice.

We couldn’t have done it without the support from our Platinum Sponsor RBC our Silver Sponsors – Biovectra, IFC, Medavie Blue Cross, Health Association Nova Scotia, Scotiabank and Umka Immigration Consulting and partner ISANS..

Mark your calendars for upcoming fairs in your cities. Next up is Toronto on June 23, followed by Winnipeg (July 8), Calgary (August 26) and Vancouver (November 3). Our fairs always offer free admission to attendees, but pre-registering is encouraged.

The Canadian Immigrant team will continue to implement a process that follows both government set out protocols, and procedures set out by each respective venue to ensure the safety of our team, exhibitors, speakers and attendees.
