Ranking the best high school girls’ basketball teams in the 2022-23 season

The 2022-23 girls’ high school basketball season has tipped off in some states, and we are a few weeks away from the season being in full swing across the country.

As we look forward to national events like the She Got Game Classic, Nike Tournament of Champions, Geico Nationals and the State Champions Invitational, we find some familiar teams at the top of the SCNext Top 25 rankings.

Sidwell Friends School (Washington, D.C.), which won last year’s inaugural SCI, returns Jadyn Donovan, a Duke commit who is the third-ranked recruit in the 2023 espnW 100, as well as Kendall Dudley and Leah Harmon, top-20 prospects in the 2024 espnW 60.

Three California schools are also near the top, boasting rosters of loaded talent. Sierra Canyon is led by Judea Watkins (No. 1, 2023) and Mackenly Randolph (No. 19, 2024). Etiwanda returns Kennedy Smith (No. 16, 2024) at forward and Aliyahna Morris (No. 18, 2025) at point guard. La Jolla Country Day starts Arizona signees Breya Cunningham (No. 14, 2023) and Jada Williams (No. 21, 2023), as well as Tajianna Avant-Roberts (No. 24, 2024).
