Ranking the best high school girls’ basketball teams in the nation

McDonald’s All-Americans and Arizona signees Jada Williams and Breya Cunningham led La Jolla Country Day (Calif.) to a 70-65 in-state win over Etiwanda. While Williams drained multiple 3s and Cunningham recorded a double-double, San Diego signee Sumayah Sugapong scored 20 points in the second half alone. For Etiwanda, 2024 Super 60 recruit Kennedy Smith had another outstanding showing.

No. 15 Hazel Green, the five-time defending Alabama Class 6A state champions, extended its winning streak to 86 games.

Karen Weitz of No. 22 Centennial (Nev.) was named the West coach for the 2023 McDonald’s All-American Games. Fun fact: She also coaches the boys varsity team at Centennial.

Hopkins (Minn.) dropped its first game of the season at the hands of Maddyn Greenway and Providence Academy. The freshman Greenway, who scored 41 points, is a combo of craftiness, floor vision, fundamentals and toughness.

Outside the top 25, Joyce Edwards’ Camden High School (S.C.) beat Bianca Thomas and Charlotte Christian (N.C.) in a marquee matchup between top-10 2024 recruits. Edwards had 40 points and 10 rebounds with LSU coach Kim Mulkey and Tennessee coach Kellie Harper in attendance.
