Bacolod’s Benitez, Iloilo’s Treñas top performance survey of Wester Visayas mayors

BACOLOD CITY — Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez of this city and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas topped a recent independent and non-commissioned “Boses ng Bayan” job performance survey of Western Visayas mayors conducted by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).

Benitez, a newcomer to the job but with prior experience as a congressman, has set the bar high with an impressive score of 83.7 percent,” the RPMD said.

Treñas, who achieved an 82.9 percent score, effectively tied with Benitez in the top spot.

Other Negros Occidental mayors in the top ten list are Javier Miguel Benitez of Victorias City in third place, Melecio Yap Jr. of Escalante City – fourth, Ma. Gina Lizares of Sipalay City – fifth, Benjie Miranda of Kabankalan City – sixth, Rex Jalandoon of La Carlota City and Salvador Escalante Jr of Cadiz City – seventh, Neil Lizares of Talisay City and Raymund Tongson of Himamaylan City – eighth, and Rene Gustilo of San Carlos City – ninth.

The survey conducted from February 25 to March 8 was based on in-person interviews with 10,000 adult respondents, with a sampling error of +/-1 percent and a 95 percent confidence level, RPMD said.
