Cops nab suspects in robbery-shooting at Bohol gas station

TAGBILARAN CITY — Policemen arrested on Wednesday three suspects in the robbery of a gasoline station and the killing of its security escort in Ubay town, Bohol province.

Florencio Yangson Pelonia, 54; Rogelio Tama Edisa Jr., 27; and Jerry Ligtas Ofamin, 37, were positively identified by eyewitnesses as the same persons who committed the crime on Monday, according to Lt. Col. Norman Nuez, information officer of the Bohol Provincial Police Office.

Recovered from the possession of the suspects were a caliber 45 pistol with live ammunition, cash amounting to P25,743, and a motorcycle, the police said.

Based on the police report, the three suspects robbed Sailor Oil gasoline station owned by MVC Corporation in Barangay San Pascual, Ubay town, on April 17.

Footage from a surveillance camera in the gas station showed that one of the suspects alighted from the motorcycle and got the sling bag from gasoline security escort Marlowiei Amparado.

The suspect then shot Amparado several times.

Pastor Tronueva, the gasoline station’s security guard, was injured during the incident.

According to the police, the suspects successfully took the victim’s collected sales amounting to about P390,000.
