Palawan court issues arrest warrant against ex-governor Reyes
PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan – A regional trial court in this city has issued a Warrant of Arrest against former Palawan governor Joel Reyes for the 2011 murder case that tagged him as the mastermind in the killing of broadcaster Dr. Gerardo Ortega.
The Warrant of Arrest was signed by Palawan RTC Branch 52 Presiding Judge Angelo Arizala on Thursday, July 20, after the release of the Supreme Court first division’s March 29 ruling ordering Reyes’ rearrest and subsequent resumption of the murder trial.
The warrant placed Reyes’ address at No. 1363 Caballero Street, Dasmariñas, Makati City “or elsewhere.”
No bail was set for the murder case under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code.
Ortega was shot and killed in an ukay-ukay (used clothing) store in Barangay San Pedro late in the morning of January 24, 2011, after his radio program. INQ
