Power interruptions set this week for Meralco maintenance

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) has announced scheduled power interruptions in some parts of its franchise area this week due to maintenance activities.
Based on separate advisories by Meralco, among those to be affected are its customers in some areas in Quezon province, Bulacan, Laguna, as well as portions of Quezon City and Muntinlupa City.
Replacement of poles, line reconductoring and line reconstruction works along University Ave. in Ayala Alabang Village, have been cited as the reason for the power interruptions between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. today in affected portions in Muntinlupa.
Relocation of poles affected by Department of Public Works and Highways road project along Perez St. in Barangay Batasan Hills, on the other hand, will result in power interruptions between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in a portion of Quezon City today.
Tiaong and Dolores in Quezon will likewise experience power outage between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today due to relocation of primary affected by DPWH project along Tiaong-Dolores Road, while outage time of between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. is also seen in certain areas in Pulilan, Bulacan due to relocation of primary facilities and line reconductoring works.
For the other areas, the scheduled power interruptions are between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Dec. 7 for Laguna (Sta. Rosa City), between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Dec. 8 for Bulacan (Meycauayan City) and between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. on Dec. 10 for Quezon (Tayabas City).
Meralco will undertake maintenance works such as replacement of poles, facility installation and line maintenance and reconstruction in certain portions of these areas, resulting in the scheduled power interruptions.
Meralco is the largest electric power distribution company in the country, providing electric service within its franchise area coverage which includes Metro Manila, all of the provinces of Rizal, Cavite and Bulacan and parts of the provinces of Pampanga, Batangas, Laguna and Quezon.
The company has a consolidated customer count of 7.8 million as of end-September.
