2023 Bar topnotcher receives almost P2 million in incentives

MANILA, Philippines — The 2023 Bar exams topnotcher Ephraim Bie has received almost P2 million worth of incentives from members of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Law community.

Bie scored 89.2625 percent in the 2023 Bar exams, the results of which were released on December 5.

According to the Varsitarian, the UST’s official student publication, on Friday, Bie received P1.25 million from DivinaLaw Foundation, whose founder is the current dean of the university’s Faculty of Civil Law, Atty. Nilo Divina.

Bie also received P500,000 from Thomasian lawyer Rey Oben, and another P200,000 from the UST Law Alumni Foundation, Inc.

Meanwhile, Thomasian law alumni Pio Buencamino, who placed eighth in the top scorers of the 2023 Bar exams with an 88.2500 percent rating, also received a P530,000 incentive from DivinaLaw Foundation,  P100,000 from Oben, and P100,000 from the UST Law Alumni Foundation Inc.

UST placed fifth top-performing school with 100 or more examinees in this year’s Bar exams. A total of 3,812 out of 10,387 examinees passed, with this year’s passing rate marked at 36.77 percent.
