Asiad: Rondina, Pons still through to next round despite loss to Kazakhs

Alas Pilipinas’ Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons are still through to the Round of 16 in women’s beach volleyball of the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 despite a 17-21, 21-10, 10-15 loss to Kazakhstan on Friday.

The star duo from the Philippines virtually secured their spot in the next phase after Bangladesh’s second loss in the tournament, placing second in Pool E just behind Kazakhstan with a 1-1 record.

On Sunday, the “SiPons” tandem made a triumphant Asiad debut, dominating the Bangladesh pair of Most Sabina Khatun and Mst Lucky Khatun, 21-6, 21-6.
