Mark Your Calendar: Michelin Guide Philippines 2027 Is Coming October 29

The countdown to the 2027 MICHELIN Guide Philippines selection is officially on. MICHELIN Guide has announced that this year’s awards ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Manila Marriott Hotel at Newport World Resorts Manila—the same venue that hosted last year’s inaugural Philippine selection.

MICHELIN Guide’s return to the Philippines was confirmed earlier this year, with the Guide set to remain in the country through at least 2028. The October 29 ceremony will reveal the 2027 MICHELIN Guide Manila and Environs & Cebu restaurant selection, including MICHELIN Stars, Bib Gourmand, MICHELIN Selected restaurants, and special awards.

According to the MICHELIN Guide, this year’s ceremony will be extra special as it also coincides within the year the global gastronomy community commemorates the 100th anniversary of the MICHELIN Star. First introduced in 1926, the MICHELIN Star rating system has become one of the world’s most recognized marks of culinary excellence, celebrating restaurants that deliver outstanding dining experiences.

The 2027 selection will include MICHELIN Stars, Bib Gourmand, MICHELIN Selected restaurants, and special awards. For a refresher on what the different MICHELIN distinctions mean—and how restaurants earn them—read our earlier via this link.

As with the inaugural selection, restaurants are assessed by anonymous MICHELIN Guide inspectors using five universal criteria: the quality of ingredients; mastery of cooking techniques; harmony of flavors; personality of the cuisine; and consistency, both over time and across the menu.

Last year’s historic first edition featured a total of 108 establishments across Manila, its Environs, and Cebu: a single Two MICHELIN Star restaurant, eight One MICHELIN Star restaurants, 25 Bib Gourmand restaurants, and 74 MICHELIN Selected restaurants. The inaugural selection shone a spotlight on the country’s most talented chefs and restaurateurs and brought renewed attention to the Philippines as a gastronomy destination in Southeast Asia.

The arrival of the MICHELIN Guide in the Philippines was long anticipated, but its inaugural selection in 2025 also sparked plenty of debate, with some diners, chefs, and industry observers questioning individual inclusions and omissions. Metro.Style examined the backlash at the time, noting that Michelin’s arrival was always likely to attract strong reactions in a country with deeply held opinions about food and dining.

Whatever the debate over the inaugural selection, the MICHELIN Guide has become part of the conversation around Philippine dining. Its return for a second year gives restaurants and chefs another opportunity for recognition, while putting the spotlight once again on Manila, its Environs, and Cebu as dining destinations. Now, with the October 29 ceremony approaching, attention turns to who will make the 2027 selection.
