The Desserts Are About To Get Ridiculous: Dessert Masters Season 2 Is Back

If you thought dessert had reached its limit, Dessert Masters is here to change your mind.

The Australian pastry competition returns for Season 2 with ten new contenders, $100,000 on the line, and a familiar pair of judges: Melissa Leong and pastry superstar Amaury Guichon. Expect elaborate cakes, gravity-defying constructions, precision chocolate work and the sort of desserts that make the word “sweet” feel woefully inadequate.

The new season brings together some of Australia’s most accomplished dessert and pastry names, from cake creatives and gelato specialists to chefs trained in MICHELIN-starred kitchens. The lineup includes Emelia Jackson, Katherine Sabbath, Reece Hignell, Darren Purchese, Alisha Henderson, Christy Tania, Dan Pasquali, Donato Toce, Jana Lai and John Demetrios.

And they are not being asked merely to make beautiful desserts.

This season’s challenges take inspiration from storytelling, movement, circus spectacles and optical illusions, pushing contestants to combine technical skill with creativity. The kitchen becomes a playground, but there is very little room for mistakes.

There is also a new twist: the Secret SOS box.

One contestant will have access to the mysterious box when trouble strikes, but its advantage remains secret until it is opened. Exactly what it can do, and when it can change the course of the competition, is part of the fun.

At the judges’ table, Leong returns alongside Guichon, the French pastry chef whose influence extends far beyond the competition kitchen. With more than 16 million Instagram followers, Guichon has become one of the most recognizable figures in contemporary pastry, known for intricate chocolate sculptures and technically exacting creations.

The contestants will need every bit of that expertise. The challenges promise increasingly ambitious desserts designed to test technique, imagination and the ability to turn an idea into something that actually works.

And then there is the prize: $100,000 and the title of Dessert Master.  Ten pastry professionals enter, but only one gets to win.

Dessert Masters Season 2 is developed and produced by Endemol Shine Australia, a Banijay Entertainment company.
