The Story Behind Dove Cameron’s Stunning ‘Celestial’ Wedding Gown by Valentino

The most beautiful wedding gowns are the ones woven with a personal story that gives a piece that much-needed personality. For actress-singer Dove Cameron, going for something unique on her big day with now-husband Måneskin frontman Damiano David was of utmost importance. 

And while she told Vogue in an exclusive interview that she was “wildly unprepared” for their wedding, things just somehow felt right and fell into place. “It feels right. It feels natural. It feels easy. It feels like a natural, beautiful next step. I don’t know how else to describe it. I’m in love, [and] we’re throwing a big party,” she told the publication. 

While weddings are deeply personal occasions, it makes a big difference to have reliable and trustworthy experts to help the couple pull off their dream wedding. In the case of Dove, it was a non-negotiable to collaborate with a design team she has a relationship with. Add the guidance of her stylist, Marc Eram, and there was no question about how stunning the result would be. 

Valentino’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, designed Dove Cameron’s wedding dress. From the beginning of the planning, the bride was clear about what she wanted for her bridal ensemble: “My great desire for this dress was that it was simple but elevated, and something that I felt like myself in,” she told Vogue during her final fitting.  

The Italian luxury fashion house created for the bride a bespoke wedding gown. Describing the exquisite creation, the brand shared, “From the first drape to the final silk-covered button, the making of Dove Cameron’s Valentino gown for her wedding to Damiano David brings a singular vision to life in luminous silk satin and layers of weightless silk chiffon.”

The base of the wedding gown is a strapless, corseted column dress with a sheer tulle fabric hanging down from the shoulders, cascading into a dramatic, cape-like skirt and train. The interior lining of her gown’s corset has this statement embroidered on it: “The best part of being alive.” These are the same words engraved on Damiano’s ring. 

The sleek and classic bridal look was topped off by the star of the ensemble: the meticulously crafted four-meter silk tulle veil, hand-embroidered with constellations of tiny crystals and beads. The choice of accents was not random, as Dove’s middle name is Celeste—hence, the celestial motif that was so apt for someone who’s practically like a modern Disney princess (she’s best known for starring in the teen sitcom Liv and Maddie by Disney). Her bridal beauty look also featured Valentino hair clips that added sparkle to the overall dreamy vibe. She wore matching silk ankle-strapped heels, featuring the bride and the groom’s names, also customized by Valentino.  

Dove and Damiano, who got engaged in October 2025, held a civil ceremony, where she wore a custom Giorgio Armani suit. Following this union at the historic town hall (Palazzo dei Priori)—located in the medieval hilltop town of Montalcino, Tuscany, Italy—the couple held a bigger wedding party.
