DPWH probes Taguig project with Leyte geotag
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon holds a press conference, September 3, 2025. Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News/File MANILA — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said Monday it was investigating a project in Taguig City, photos of which were geotagged 600 kilometers away in Leyte province.
DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon said there was no conclusive finding yet on the Discaya project.
He made the statement after Sen. Panfilo Lacson questioned the DPWH chief’s earlier claim during a budget hearing that there were no ghost projects in Taguig, the bailiwick of Sen. Alam Peter Cayetano’s family.
“Kaya nagpapasalamat din ako kay Sen. Ping, binring up niya.
Kasi kailangan yan i-validate, kailangan yan ibangga sa iba’t ibang dokumento at i-verify onsite,” he added.
Cayetano has denied infrastructure irregularities in Taguig City, where his wife Lani Cayetano is city mayor.
He has also accused Lacson of mounting a demolition job.
Dizon said that his agency was taking action on all reports of alleged ghost projects and irregularities.
Tuloy-tuloy yan. In fact ang sabi nga ng Ombudsman, there is almost 200 ongoing investigations all over the country. So hindi niyo pwedeng sabihin na nakatutok lang sa lugar na to,” he said.
“Paulit-ulit ko sasabihin and I will say this anywhere I go. Pero in the interest of fairness, lahat to may proseso,” he added.
