Man kills teenage live-in partner due to jealousy in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – Jealousy triggered a man to kill his 19-year-old live-in partner in Barangay Old Sagay, Sagay City, Negros Occidental on Friday, Nov. 5.

Police identified the victim as Marijo Adolfo of Barangay Old Sagay.

Police Lt. Abundio Diaz, deputy police chief of Sagay City Police Station, said Adolfo was found by her mother lifeless with multiple stab wounds in a banana plantation, a few meters away from her house.

Diaz said a kitchen knife was recovered near the victim’s body.

Diaz said the victim’s live-in partner, Kent Joseph Katalbas, 21, was arrested in his house, after he was identified as the suspect in the crime.

Katalbas had injuries in his hands and legs probably caused by a commotion with the victim, Diaz said.

Diaz said they could not elaborate more on the motive of jealousy, as the suspect refused to talk while being detained at the police station.

Murder charges will be filed against Katalbas, he added.
