Alex Eala finally meets her ‘super idol’ Maria Sharapova

It’s another dream come true for Filipino tennis star Alex Eala as she finally met her idol, former Russian professional tennis player Maria Sharapova.

Eala appeared as a guest on her childhood idol’s podcast, Pretty Tough.

A reel released by Sharapova on her social media accounts shows the tennis legend and Eala exchanging hugs for the first time.

“Nice to meet you finally,” Sharapova said.

“Oh my goodness,” Eala replied.  

“Thank you for finding time tie for us,” Sharapova said before she invited Eala to sit to for her podcast, which will be available on Wednesday, October 7.

Eala has been vocal about her admiration for the tennis icon, describing Sharapova as her “super idol.” The Filipina said she was around five years old when she first saw Sharapova. 

Last July, Sharapova called Eala “a star” after the Filipina’s historic win at Wimbledon.
