BLACKPINK Lisa heads to the ‘moon’ in new campaign set to a 1964 Korean pop song

BLACKPINK’s Lisa landed on the “moon” for Nike’s Moon Shoe fall 2026 campaign, set to The Kim Sisters’ 1964 hit “Mister Magic Moon.”

The Thai star fronts the fall 2026 campaign for Nike’s Moon Shoe sneaker. In the photos, she wears the shoes in red as she crosses a dusty gray set made to look like the moon. She leaves a footprint in the dirt, plants a flag, and climbs a winners’ podium as if marking her own trip to space.

The theme echoes her own rise. Born Lalisa Manobal, she joined an audition held by South Korean agency YG Entertainment in her home country in 2010, when she was 13. Of about 4,000 hopefuls, she was the only one chosen. A year later, at 14, she moved to South Korea to begin training, before she could even speak Korean.

She spent around five years preparing before debuting with BLACKPINK in 2016, then launched her solo career in 2021. In 2025, she made her acting debut as Mook, a resort employee, in the third season of HBO’s The White Lotus, which was filmed in Thailand.

The moon shoot is not her first project with the sportswear label this year. Earlier in 2026, she also starred in a ballet-inspired spring campaign filmed in Paris.

The sneaker has a backstory of its own. It began in the kitchen of company co-founder Bill Bowerman, who tinkered with prototypes at home. That spirit of trying, failing, and trying again shaped how the company designs shoes and paved the way for the models that later made it famous.

The campaign’s music reaches far back into Korean pop history. Playing over the visuals is “Mister Magic Moon,” a 1964 single by The Kim Sisters, recorded with Joe Tanner’s Orchestra.

The trio, made up of Sue, Aija, and Mia Kim, first sang for American soldiers based in South Korea in the 1950s. They flew to the United States in 1959, became a hit in Las Vegas, and were booked on The Ed Sullivan Show over 20 times. They are widely credited as the first Korean act to make it big in America, decades before anyone used the term “K-pop.”

Pairing their song with a Thai artist who found fame through the K-pop system connects two generations of Asian performers who made their mark abroad.

The shoe is now out in new seasonal colors online and in selected stores worldwide
