Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte’s legal team submitted to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) an affidavit rejecting dismissed policeman Rodulfo Gracioso Jr.’s allegation that he delivered billions of pesos worth of cash to her.Duterte’s legal counsel Clifford Chua made the filing.
Chua said he believed there were grounds to file a perjury complaint against Gracioso.
“Pero depende pa rin po iyan sa ating Bise Presidente,” he said.
Duterte earlier this week denied receiving money, chocolates, or expensive bags through Gracioso.
She noted that Gracioso could have never directly approached her due to the strict protocols implemented by the Presidential Security Group for her family since the start of her father’s presidency in 2016.
Duterte added that Gracioso could not have visited their residence in Davao, saying he did not know details about or even the appearance of her house.
The Vice President said money could have motivated Gracioso’s accusations, after an alleged disagreement between him and his former boss, ex-House Speaker Lord Allan Velasco.
“Mariin kong tinatanggi ang mga pahayag ni Rodulfo Mondigo Gracioso Jr. sa kaniyang sinumpaang salaysay at mga panayam sa media na iniuugnay ako sa mga pangyayaring hindi ko ginawa, hindi ko nalalaman, o hindi ko personal na naranasan,” she said in a press conference on Tuesday.
