Inka Magnaye reveals her mother lost voice-over job to AI
Social media influencer and actress Inka Magnaye shared that her mother lost a voice-over job to artificial intelligence (AI). In a Facebook post, she showed a screenshot of her conversation with her mother who announced the unfortunate news.
“My heart breaks for all the artists and creatives,” Inka said.
Without naming any names, the Kapamilya actress shared how the supposed brand that her mother was supposed to work with was a “big brand” that decided to part ways with her mother and use AI for their voice-over instead.
“Of course hindi ko naman irereveal kasi I also understand business decisions are made for the interest of the company, but we need to think about where our money goes,” she added.
Inka asserted and questioned all the “big brands” if this is the direction that they want to go with moving forward. At the end of the day, the actress shared that they are also customers and not just voice over talents.
“I ask you: Is that the future you want? A world where numbers, codes, and programs syphon the earth’s resources and take opportunities from actual human beings?” Inka questioned.
“So big brands with money, sure, you save money. But the money you would have spent on the real people who would LOVE to work with you will end up spending this money back on you anyway. We are your customers, too,” she continued.
Inka maintained that AI is a tool that shouldn’t replace human talent as she shared that people can tell if it’s created by the former or the latter.
“Yes, we can all tell. Yes, we do judge you when we see it. AI VOs sound lifeless. AI art feels lifeless. AI music sounds lifeless. Why? Because AI is not alive. It can never replicate life. And we are slowly being backed into a dead world one prompt at a time,” she shared.
She then ended her post with an invitation for other brands to hire her mother for a voice-over job. Her post has since then gained traction and netizens have shared their opinion about AI taking over jobs of humans.
