‘’WAG NA PO NATIN PIGILAN ANG EBIDENSIYA.’
Prosecution lawyer Erwin Matib defended the request to display VP Sara Duterte’s tax records during the BIR witness’ testimony, saying the public should see not only her assets and net worth but also her income.
“For the past weeks, we’ve been showing the assets, we’ve been showing the net worth of the Vice President, whether declared or undeclared,” he said.
“Equally important po na ipakita kung magkano po yung kanilang kabuuang kita. Dito natin ipagko-compare ang lahat ng kanilang net worth, at yung difference, doon natin malalaman kung meron pong unexplained wealth or ill-gotten wealth,” Matib continued.

House lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro says even she was surprised with the changes in the presentation of witnesses. She says they will have to discuss their next move while awaiting whether counsel Erwin Matib will be able to come to trial this afternoon.
She says Matib, being a CPA Lawyer, may be in the best position to lead the presentation of the Bureau of Internal Revenue witness, which they anticipate will be highly technical. |

‘BAKA ANG DAPAT MAG-ADJUST AY SILA.’
Lead defense counsel Sheila Sison argues that the prosecution has at least 13 lawyers present who could take over the presentation of the BIR witness, instead of asking the defense to adjust to the last-minute change.
“I suppose that they met over the scope of the direct examination of the BIR witness, and the two lead prosecutors of this article are here present today. And any one of them can take charge of the work left by one of their colleague,” she said.
Sison added, “Para po sabihin na kami na lang ang mag-adjust, nandiyan naman po ang BIR witness nila, baka ang dapat mag-adjust ay sila, tutal ang cause nito ay hindi naman respondent kundi ang prosecution.”
“For us, the more fair na dapat gawin ay prosecution finds a way out of its own concern nang walang prejudice sa prosecution,” she said. #VPonTrial | @AprBenjaminINQ
