Lyca Gairanod explains performance at political rally in 2022: ‘Yung father ko na stroke’

Singer Lyca Gairanod broke her silence and aired her side of the story following the hate comments she received on social media back in 2022. Netizens pointed out then that she follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte, calling into question her political leanings. In an interview with King of Talk Boy Abunda earlier this week, the Voice Kids Philippines champion shared that she did it for her father who suffered a stroke that time.

Lyca has been going viral on social media the past few weeks after her song, “Puede Nang Mangarap,” has been all over the internet.

When asked about following the politicians on social media, she maintained it’s nothing personal for her as she’s allowed to follow anyone she wants to.

So, yung sinabi ko na wala akong alam sa politics, nung time na yun siyempre 2022,” she said.

Lyca then recalled how her father suffered a stroke back in 2022 and she wanted to help out as much as she could to help with the treatment plan. She shared that she accepted all types of work despite what others may think of her–– all for the love for her father.

It was back in September when Lyca went live on the social media platform TikTok to answer back netizens and asked them to stop meddling with her personal life.

“Wala akong pinaniniwalaan in politics. That’s it. Wala akong tiwala sa politics,” she previously shared.
