Pinoy Pride on the Podium: All the Filipino Medalists at the 2026 Asian Games

The 20th Asian Games recently concluded on October 4 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, capping off a memorable edition of the continental sporting event filled with iconic, emotional, and unexpected moments.

For the Philippines, the games marked a historic milestone. The country recorded its best finish in six decades of Asian Games participation, bringing home a total of 29 medals—four golds, nine silvers, and 16 bronzes—to rank 17th in the overall medal standings.

Behind every medal is a Filipino athlete whose dedication, talent, and determination brought pride to the nation. Their achievements not only made their mark at the continental level but also showcased the strength of Filipino athleticism on the international stage.

With that, here are all the Filipino medalists who made the Philippines proud at the 2026 Asian Games.

The Gold Medalists
Carlos Edriel Yulo, Artistic Gymnast

First on the list is Carlos Edriel Yulo, the only Filipino athlete to claim two gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games. The Olympic gold medalist dominated the men’s floor exercise and men’s vault events, further cementing his place among the Philippines’ most accomplished athletes.

Next on the list is another Filipino Olympian and one of the world’s top pole vaulters, EJ Obiena. He secured the gold medal in the men’s pole vault after clearing 5.91 meters, setting a new Asian Games competition record in the process and adding another impressive milestone to his already decorated career.

Jeus Gabriel Yape, Taekwondo

Next to bring home a gold medal for the Philippines is 22-year-old taekwondo athlete Jeus Gabriel Yape. Coming from a family deeply rooted in the sport, Yape was raised by parents who are both taekwondo instructors and referees, while his older sister also pursued taekwondo as an athlete.

Yape secured the gold medal in the mixed individual virtual poomsae event, while also taking home a bronze in the men’s individual poomsae.
