Styling Inspiration from the Philippine School of Interior Design’s ‘What the Pop!’ Exhibit
The third floor of V-Mall, Greenhills transforms into a nostalgic space with the Philippine School of Interior Design‘s (PSID) “What the Pop!” exhibit, which will run throughout October. The school’s graduating batch this year took on the challenge of exploring generational nostalgia and pop culture by building spaces reflective of the eras assigned to them: Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z.
An immersive interior design exhibit celebrating Filipino pop culture across generations, “What the Pop!” is composed of eight unique booths that showcase varied interpretations of the theme. The living spaces translate music, fashion, traditions, and technology into innovative spatial concepts.

TOYANG is a vibrant family room designed for energetic Baby Boomer grandparents, grounded in the clean geometric discipline of the Bauhaus movement. Traditional childhood games like sungka, piko, trumpo, and sipa are transformed into high-design elements, such as terrazzo-inlaid game tables, creating a playful sanctuary that celebrates intergenerational connection.

TeleBisyon mimics an antique television set, featuring a living room that emulates a 1940s to 1960s Filipino mid-century modern home. The space limits its color scheme to sepia tones and integrates indigenous artifacts like capiz windows, solihiya, and banig with vintage appliances to offer a nostalgic, interactive journey into the nation’s Golden Years.
ISTAMBAY reimagines the Filipino tambayan through the realities of the 1970s, transforming a bar lounge into a gathering space framed by Brutalist architecture. Beneath the concrete exterior, weathered iron, raw industrial materials, and protest-inspired art symbolize the struggles and resistance that existed beneath the surface of the era.

TUNOG KALYE transforms the traditional music room into a vintage listening space with dark walls and warm wood. Radios, cassette tapes, vintage speakers, and album-inspired artworks serve as visual memories, bridging the 1970s music experience with the memories passed down to the next generation.

Inspired by the bebot era, KARISMA is a millennial dream walk-in closet and vanity that celebrates a time when dressing up was bold and playful. Vibrant colors, statement patterns, and glamorous details create an immersive space for self-expression and finding confidence.

Rooted in the emotional language of 1990s Filipino romantic films, TEALIK imagines the private bedroom of a millennial woman. Soft romantic hues meet tactile upholstery, layered surfaces, and intimate lighting, resulting in a space suspended between fantasy and lived experience.

ALIWAN AVE. explores how the everyday MRT commuting experience can be transformed into a personal Gen Z gaming and entertainment space. Continuous lines, linear lighting, and transit-inspired elements bring together the energy of urban life and modern gaming into a space that connects people.

SIMULA is a residential dining space designed for a Gen Z newlywed couple, with a coffee bar at its heart. Soft curves, arched forms, warm neutrals, and woven textures create an inviting atmosphere where everyday moments and coffee culture become shared memories.
