He will be facing incumbent Cong. Ronaldo “Ronny” Zamora, who has been San Juan’s representative in Congress for more than 10 years. In 1969, Zamora topped the bar examination.

Zamora’s camp said he will seek reelection.

The actor will run under the political party of former president and now Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada’s Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino. Meanwhile, Zamora is under the PDP-Laban.

“Alam niyo naman po, ang aking katunggali, ay kilala bilang isang beterano sa larangan ng pulitika. Kaya ako po, isa lang ang aking maiaalay sa inyo, at ‘yan po ay serbisyo—serbisyong tapat (We all know that my competitor is a veteran politician. That’s why, I can only offer you one thing, and that is service—honest service),” Manzano said during their party’s proclamation rally in San Juan City on Monday night. He was introduced by former senator Jinggoy Estrada as their candidate for congressman.

“Ang aking bibigyan ng prayoridad ay ang kapakanan ng lahat ng taga-lungsod ng San Juan (I will give priority to the welfare of all residents of San Juan City),” he added.

Manzano, who served as Makati City vice mayor from 1998 to 2001, said he is a resident of Barangay Little Baguio, saying people can approach him anytime.

In case he wins, Manzano told the people at the proclamation rally that he will put his office in San Juan.

In 2004, he was appointed as Optical Media Board (OMB) chairman.

Manzano also ran as vice president under the Lakas-Kampi-CMD in May, 2010, but lost.

He also failed to get elected as senator in 2016, ending in the 21st spot of Comelec’s initial tally.
