Bianca Gonzalez takes part of 4th ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit
Bianca Gonzalez took to social media to reflect on her participation in the 4th ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit held recently in Manila.
“Honored to be a part of the 4th ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit, with the Philippines as host country this year,” she said in an Instagram post on Sunday, October 11.
The television host acknowledged the ongoing challenges in achieving gender equality but expressed hope that initiatives like the summit could help drive meaningful progress.
“Today is #InternationalDayoftheGirl, and a lot of things happening in the world now make it seem like achieving gender equality is further away than the projected 130+ YEARS (!!!) it would take to reach it. But initiatives like this, seeing women leaders from the region and the EU share best practices and policies that work, and how they made it happen, give me much hope,” she said.
She added: “Malayo na, pero malayo pa, at hindi tayo titigil para makamit ang makatarungang mundo para sa lahat ng kababaihan 🫶🏾.”
Bianca also highlighted one of the summit’s key initiatives, which was the launch of a study examining women’s political participation across the region.
“The 4th ASEAN Women Leaders’ Summit marked the launch of a study done on women’s political participation in the region where barriers to women in positions of power are examined: from unpaid care work, to gender based violence and online harassment of women, gender responsive policies and budgeting, among many other challenges,” she shared.
Bianca is one of the founders of She Talks Asia.
According to its website, the organization focuses on three main pillars: Community, Experience, and Impact Agency, through which it aims to “create enabling conditions for change through culture and business.”
“We amplify messages of empowerment, diversity, and inclusion, by creating events, products, and experiences that focus on authentic connection, genuine dialogue, and equal representation,” the website added.
Meanwhile, She Talks Asia held its 10th summit on March 14, with the theme “Better Together.”
