Diesel prices down, gasoline prices up this week
MANILA — Diesel prices are set to fall while gasoline prices are set to rise this week.
The Department of Energy (DOE) said oil prices may move by the following amounts:
Diesel – P3.01/L decrease
Gasoline – P1.56/L increase
Kerosene – P1.77/L increase
Gasoline and kerosene prices are higher because of a higher cargo premium, while diesel has a lower cargo premium.
Energy Secretary Sharon Garin also announced the fuel inventory as of October 9, 2026:
Diesel 56 days
Gasoline 53 days
Kerosene 147 days
LPG 31 days
Garin has also addressed the call of several organizations for her to resign due to alleged failure to solve the energy crisis in the Visayas and other issues.
Garin said she works at the pleasure of the president and she will follow any directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The secretary maintains that the DOE is doing everything to solve the problem in the Visayas region.
The DOE is also preparing the electricity grid for the peak of the projected strong El Nino until the first half of next year.
