Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Sunset Boulevard’ set to make PH debut

MANILA — Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Sunset Boulevard” will make its Philippine debut in 2027, with a limited engagement scheduled at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium at RCBC Plaza in Makati City.

Produced by CueCraft Entertainment in collaboration with LW Entertainment Ltd., the musical will run from August 18 to September 12, 2027.

Based on Billy Wilder’s 1950 film, “Sunset Boulevard” tells the story of Norma Desmond, a former silent-film star who longs to return to the spotlight. The musical explores ambition, obsession and the fading allure of fame.

The production features music by Lloyd Webber, with a book and lyrics by Don Black and Christopher Hampton. David Cullen and Lloyd Webber handled the orchestrations.

Its best-known songs include “With One Look,” “As If We Never Said Goodbye” and “The Perfect Year.”

The musical has earned multiple Tony and Laurence Olivier Awards over the years. Glenn Close and Nicole Scherzinger have both won major acting honors for their portrayals of Desmond.

The Philippine production will feature Filipino and international performers and a creative team, with an original classic staging developed for local audiences.

Tickets are available through TicketWorld.
