Ebe Dancel, Urbandub, and The Itchyworms Co-Headline ‘Alingawngaw Para Kay Echo’ | One Music PH
The Pinoy indie-pop-rock music community is coming together for Alingawngaw Para Kay Echo, a fundraiser benefit event for Echo Singson, a longtime fixture in the local music scene who is recovering from a stroke.
Echo has long been an integral part of The Itchyworms family, with connections going back to when his older brother, Chino, joined. In 1999, he co-founded Boldstar with Itchyworms drummer and co-main songwriter Jazz Nicolas on bass, now U.S.-based TV and film director Marie Jamora on drums, and Ciudad guitiarist Justin Sunico. They released their debut album entitled You Must Have Been A Beautiful Something… What Are You Really? in the year 2002. They are also one of the bands played in the multi-platinum compilation album Kami nAPO Muna: A Tribute to APO Hiking Society with the song “Kumot at Unan”.
Over the years, Echo has played many roles in the local indie music scene, including hosting, sound engineering, production, and lighting. Aside from his behind-the-scenes work, he has remained a valued presence in the community as both an active participant and supporter.
Last September 19, Echo was hit with a stroke while hosting a gig at indie music haven Mow’s. He was rushed and brought to East Avenue Medical Center, where he got medical attentionbefore being discharged. As his journey to recovery continues, he has shown little signs of improvement, offering hope to his family, friends, and colleagues.
In response, his friends and followers from the music community have joined forces for Alingawngaw Para Kay Echo this October 16 at 123 Block, Mandala Park, Mandaluyong City. Ebe Dancel, Urbandub, The Itchyworms, fun 80’s pop cover band The Ronnies, and The Revisors are coming together no questions asked for a night of great music in support of someone who has contributed a great deal to the industry.
All proceeds will go straight to Echo for his medical expenses and rehabilitation. Each contribution, every presence, and every best wish can make a profound difference. As Echo continues his fight toward recovery, his friends and colleagues are rallying around him with one shared message: he is not alone.
