How Kolette Madelo is navigating love, career milestones, and personal growth
Her remarkable journey in “Pinoy Big Brother Gen 11,” where she emerged as the 3rd Big Placer, opened countless doors for young Kapamilya star Kolette Madelo. From appearing in various TV shows to showcasing her wit, charm, and undeniable talent, Kolette continues to shine both on screen and beyond the spotlight.
Now, in this Star Magic exclusive, “Jar Magic,” Kolette gets even more candid. She gamely answers questions about love, shares her personal picks, and opens up about her latest acting ventures—all while taking on fun challenges that are sure to make us laugh and adore her even more.
For her first prompt, Kolette was asked to react as if her crush had just walked into the room. Without missing a beat, she confidently played along, pretending to check him out as she tried to catch his attention with her charm. “Sayang naman ‘yung chance natin, minsan lang dadaan sa harap, ‘di ba,” she quipped.
The game took an even more playful turn when Kolette was challenged to put her own spin on viral internet trends. She flashed a heart pose inspired by Justin Bieber’s viral meme, struck a peace sign à la online sensation Kween Yasmin in her iconic photo, and even mimicked a girl sweetly posing in front of the camera.
Later, Kolette revealed the film she simply can’t get enough of – none other than “The Twilight Saga.” “Nung nanonood ako ng Twilight, sobrang bata ko pa noon. Kasi talagang naadik ako doon,” she confessed. And when asked to weigh in on the iconic Team Edward vs. Team Jacob debate, Kolette proudly declared herself Team Edward.
Her love for the film also sparked a fascination with werewolf stories, particularly the 2008 teleserye “Lobo”—so much so that she jokingly admitted she once dreamed of transforming into a wolf.
For a lighter moment, Kolette shared her corniest joke, opting for a classic knock-knock bit before delivering the punchline, “Joke, joke, joke!” and bursting into laughter. From laughs to cravings, the Kapamilya star quickly named chicken as her ultimate comfort food, adding that she loves it no matter how it’s cooked.
Turning to her playlist, Kolette revealed that the R&B hit “Open Arms” by SZA featuring Travis Scott is her go-to song after a breakup. She even sang a line from the track—“I gotta let you go, you’re the only one that’s holdin’ me down”—perfectly capturing the mood of heartbreak.
When it comes to love languages, Kolette shared that gift-giving and acts of service resonate with her the most. She was then challenged to show an unreleased photo from her gallery, eventually pulling up a quirky selfie she took during a car ride on her way to a friend’s birthday celebration.
Following her standout performances in the Kapamilya seryes “What Lies Beneath” and “Blood vs Duty,” Kolette is reaching another milestone as she takes the stage for the first time in the theater play “The Art of Breaking Up.” Asked to sum up the experience in three words, she described it as “unforgettable, memorable, and lesson.”
“Thankful ako kasi ako ‘yung napili [sa role]. Memorable siya and lesson for me para dalahin ko sa mga [future] projects and sa mga acting workshops,” she shared.
Kolette admitted that working in silence has been her biggest career realization so far. “Kasi ‘di mo naman kailangan maging loud para patunayan sa ibang tao na meron kang ganito, ganyan,” she reflected.
If she were to give her life a title, Kolette said “Unreleased” would be the perfect choice. “Hindi pa ako nagb-bloom sa work or sa industry. Kailangan ko pang mag-work nang super hard para maabot ang mga dreams,” she explained, emphasizing the importance of hard work as she continues to work toward reaching her full potential.
Tasked with delivering a dramatic line in Bisaya, the “PBB” alum poured her heart into the performance, saying, “Kaya mo naman pala eh, bakit pagdating sa akin, hindi? Bakit hirap na hirap ka?” She fully embraced the moment, getting into character and delivering the line with heartfelt emotion.
The spotlight turned to love when she was asked what matters more: the heart or the mind. Drawing from past experiences in which she let her heart lead, Kolette said, “Hinayaan ko lang ‘yung sarili ko na magmahal nang magmahal.” That journey, she added, taught her to prioritize her mind even more.
When asked which is harder—saying goodbye or moving on—she weighed both sides before admitting that they are equally difficult. “Wala naman talagang madali. Saying goodbye na lang para mag-move on,” she said.
Building on her thoughts, Kolette also believes that some endings can lead to new beginnings, especially when it comes to losing people in your life. “Kunwari may aalis [sa buhay mo], may darating. Naniniwala ako doon,” she shared.
