Col. Alexie Desamito, chief of the Bacoor Component City Police Station, said investigators arrested the victim’s wife and her three children after a witness reportedly saw them together inside the house while the victim lay bloodied on a bed in the early hours of Sunday.
According to Desamito, the witness heard the couple arguing and what sounded like a physical altercation.
“So, meron pong naglakas ng loob na sumilip nung madaling araw po na ‘yun,” Desamito said.
(So the witness took a peek)
The witness allegedly saw the victim already bloodied, with his wife and the three children present.
The group reportedly warned the witness not to tell anyone about what had been seen.
“Nung napansin ‘yung sumisilip na witness na nakita ‘yung sitwasyon na ‘yun, sinabihan siya nung mag-iina na ‘Wala kang nakita’,” Desamito said.
(When they noticed the witness peeking inside, they said: ‘You didn’t see anything.)
Based on the investigation, the couple frequently argued over money.
On the night of the incident, the wife allegedly asked the victim for money to gamble, but he refused, leading to a heated confrontation.
Investigators also learned that the wife allegedly instructed one of her daughters to wash bloodstained clothing, which the witness had reportedly seen.
“Nung inaresto, hindi pa po siya umamin, ‘yung anak lang,” Desamito said.
(When they were arrested, the mother denied it. The daughter admitted to it.)
The children told investigators that the mother alone was responsible for the killing.
However, police are also looking into their possible involvement in covering up the crime.
The victim sustained severe injuries to his face and head.
Police have yet to receive the autopsy results to determine the full extent of his injuries.
The four suspects were detained and subjected to inquest proceedings on Monday.
Police said they would face a parricide complaint, with investigators looking into their alleged conspiracy in the killing.
