Drew Arellano shares son Primo’s memorable moment with NBA legend Dwyane Wade

Drew Arellano’s son Primo had the chance to meet NBA legend Dwyane Wade, during the former Miami Heat star’s visit to Manila.

On Instagram, Drew shared photos and videos of his 10-year-old son meeting Wade and getting his jersey signed by the basketball star.

“Another lucky day for this lucky basketball fanatic. Thanks for making my 10yr old very inspired and excited to be the best basketball player he can be! @tobyclaudio. Shout out to the super kind @eruption23 for asking @dwyanewade to sign the jersey! Appreciate you!🙏🏼” he said.

In one of the clips, a beaming Primo excitedly approached his father after getting his jersey autographed.

Fans online also shared their excitement over Primo’s memorable encounter with the NBA legend.

“You’re so lucky kuya Primo!” one fan wrote.

“Omg!!! That’s so nice!” another fan commented.

Dwayne traveled to the Philippines for a two-day visit as part of Li-Ning Philippines’ TADHANA: Make Your Own Way Manila Tour, presented by Toby’s Sports.

Beyond interacting with Filipino basketball fans, the three-time NBA champion saw the visit as an opportunity to experience the country’s basketball culture and connect with people who share his passion for the sport.

“This is a place that I’ve been wanting to visit for a very long time. And it’s because of everything that I heard. About the community here, about the culture here, and about the love of the sport that I fell in love with,” the basketball star remarked in a media conference in Manila as reported by ABS-CBN News.

Meanwhile, Primo is the eldest of Drew’s five children with his wife, television host Iya Villania.

In a November 2025 interview with Bernadette Sembrano, Drew reflected on raising five children.

“Five children, you know what it’s funny that we never really expected that we would have five kids,” he admitted. “We love kids, don’t get me wrong. But the last two, hindi planado yan. Kaya nagpa-snip-snip (vasectomy) na tayo di ba? Pero what a blessing. What a blessing. Super. Lalo na nakikita namin growing up, and how when they wake up meron na silang kalaro,” he stated.

Drew also spoke about his children’s distinct personalities. “Each kid will have a different personality. Primo the eldest, 9 years old, ano yan he is so into dancing now. G-Force. He is the overthinker but he is such a follower,” he relayed.

As sports enthusiasts themselves, Drew and Iya also encourage their children to stay physically active by introducing them to various activities.
