Elha Nympha’s camp cites breach of contract for her withdrawal from ‘Inday the musical’
Elha Nympha’s legal camp has released her statement on the singer’s sudden withdrawal from Inday: The Musical where she was set to make her theatrical debut. The news came on the heels of the announcement from Studio A about their lead star’s decision to step away from the show. In her most recent post, Elha wrote in the caption,
“Thank you to everyone who has shown me love, support, and understanding during this time. I trust that God has a purpose in every situation, and I leave everything in His hands. I ask for your understanding as this matter is handled through the proper channels.”
Posted last October 15, the 22-year-old artist released a statement through her legal counsel, Atty. Carl Maria Vladimir S. Valera.
“We issue this statement on behalf of our client, Ms. Elha Nympha, regarding her participation in Inday: The Musical.
“After careful consideration, Ms. Nympha has formally withdrawn from the show. The decision follows material breaches of contract by the organizers, which made her continued participation impossible.”
The statement further cited why they could not disclose the exact reason for Elha’s sudden decision, which comes just a day before the musical’s opening night on October 16, Friday.
“While Ms. Nympha remained fully committed to her role, the circumstances forced her to take this step. Due to ongoing legal considerations, we cannot share further details at this time.
“Ms. Nympha sincerely thanks her fellow cast members, the creative team, and her fans for their love, support, and understanding. She is deepy grateful to everyone who backed her involvement in the production. We respectfully ask for the public’s understanding as the matter is handled through the appropriate channels.”
In an earlier interview with ABS-CBN, Elha talked about her initial reluctance to acting live on stage where she was set to portray the dual role of Laya/Inday.
“At first, kinabahan po talaga ako since this will be my very first musical theater gig. Alam niyo naman na hindi po ako actor, singer po ako. I just trusted the process. Hindi ko rin ina-anticipate kung anong klaseng training ang pagdadaanan ko. I just trusted them. So far, so good. I’m enjoying and happy to be Inday. I was hesitant, but naisip ko, bakit hindi? It will be a big challenge for me especially since I haven’t really done professional musical theater, but I’m excited but at the same time nervous.”
Last week, Elha performed for members of the press during Studio A’s presscon launch for Inday: The Musical in Quezon City. During the event, The Voice Kids Philippines Season 2 grand winner talked about looking forward to making her theater debut
“Gusto ko siya gawin kasi feeling ko it’s a challenge for me kasi hindi talaga ako actor and hindi pa ako nag-teatro ever. So this will be my first (experience) and paano ko naman siya magagawa kung wala akong first and I want this first to be the best and willing talaga ako na ibigay yung best ko dito.”
Studio A Productions announced that Inday: The Musical will push through with its original show dates which opens this October at the RCBC Plaza in Makati City.
