Pauleen Luna pays tribute to her ‘very first idol’ Regine Velasquez

Pauleen Luna paid tribute to Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez, whom she has long admired as her “very first idol.”  

In an Instagram post on October 16, Pauleen shared a throwback photo of Regine sporting a short hairstyle alongside a photo of herself recreating the singer’s look and pose. 

The celebrity mom accompanied the photos with a message of gratitude, recalling how Regine influenced her love for music from a young age. Her messages comes just ahead of Regine’s FINALE concert. 

“A tribute to my very first idol… Ate Reg or Asia’s Songbird, @reginevalcasid ! ❤️🎤,” she began. “You inspired me at such a young age. I remember how we had CDs of your albums and even your live concerts, and we would play them over and over again in the car. Walang tanggalan!” 

Beyond Regine’s music, Pauleen also expressed her appreciation for the OPM icon’s dedication to her craft and the kindness she has shown her personally. 

“Thank you for sharing your incredible gift with us and for showing us that true hard work really does pay off. Thank you, too, for the kindness you’ve shown me and for reminding me that a superstar can be larger than life on stage and still remain so humble and grounded.” 

She also recalled how they would talk about “the most random things” before seeing Regine transform into her “incredible self” onstage, a moment that never failed to leave her in awe. 

“Nakakamangha ka talaga! 🥹✨,” Pauleen expressed.  

With Regine’s FINALE concert just around the corner, Pauleen shared her excitement about watching the singer perform and revisiting the songs that have accompanied her through the years.

“To feel all the feels, relive the memories, and sing my heart out to the songs that have been part of my life for so long. ❤️,” she added. 

“Thank you, thank you for being YOU, Ate Reg! You will always be my idol. May God continue to bless you and your beautiful gift.” 

Pauleen ended her tribute by wishing Regine well and expressing how much she looked forward to the upcoming concert. 

Regine is set to hold her FINALE concert from October 17 to 19 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. The three-day concert marks her last major concert and celebrates her 40th year in the entertainment industry.
