Backstage with Christina Nadin—The Second Filipina To Walk The Victoria’s Secret Runway

“It’s honestly such an honor,” Christina Nadin shares. “I remember growing up watching the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and looking up to Miranda Kerr because she had dimples just like mine. It’s crazy to think that years later, I get to walk that same runway.”

Christina just made history as the second Filipina to grace the iconic Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show runway and we couldn’t be more proud! In an exclusive interview with Metro, the Filipino-British model opens up about fulfilling a childhood dream, representing her Filipino roots on a global stage, and what it takes to become a Victoria’s Secret Angel.

An Angel Finds Her Wings

Christina’s journey to the Victoria’s Secret runway began with a special connection to home. She was in Siargao when she first learned that she was set to walk the show, making the news all the more meaningful.

That’s when it started to feel real,” Christina shares. “It’s something I’ve dreamed about since I was young, so it’s still a little surreal.” Having watched the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for as long as she can remember, Christina now finds herself on the other side of that dream. The moment is not only a personal milestone but also an opportunity to become the kind of inspiration she once found in the models she admired growing up.

“The thought that I could now be someone a young girl looks up to in the same way is really special to me. And being able to represent my Filipino roots on such a global stage makes it even more meaningful,” she says.

Living the Victoria’s Secret Fantasy

Turning that childhood dream into reality took plenty of hard work. Christina trained for two hours a day, preparing herself both physically and mentally for the big moment. She also had the support of her walking coach, Ian Lorenz, whose guidance made the journey even more special, particularly because he is Filipino, too.

Beyond the physical preparation, the experience taught Christina an equally important lesson. “I think the biggest thing I’ve learned is to trust myself and enjoy the process. It’s easy to put pressure on yourself when something means so much, but I’ve tried to remind myself to have fun with it too.”

Even after stepping onto one of fashion’s most anticipated runways, Christina admits that the experience has yet to fully register. “Backstage there was so much excitement,” she recalls. “The moment I stepped onto the runway, I just wanted to take it all in and enjoy every second, have fun with it.”

After months of preparation, the moment itself seemed to pass in a flash. “You spend so much time preparing for something like this, and then suddenly you’re living that moment. It’s a crazy experience.”

Filipina Pride

For Christina, representing the Philippines means honoring the people and places that have shaped her identity, particularly Bicol, where her mother is from.

To everyone at home, she offers a heartfelt message: “Maraming salamat po! I’m so grateful for all the love and support from everyone back home. It means so much to me to be able to represent the Philippines, especially my province Bicol, where my mother is from.” She adds, “I’m incredibly proud of my Filipino heritage, and I hope this moment inspires other young Filipinas to dream big too.”

Her appearance adds to the growing visibility of Filipinas in the international fashion industry. In 2018, Kelsey Merritt became the first Filipina to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, marking a milestone for Filipino representation on the global runway. Christina now follows in her footsteps, offering another point of connection for young Filipinas who aspire to pursue careers in fashion and beyond.
