The cast of ‘The Art of Breaking Up’ during its media day, July 30, 2026. ABS-CBN NewsMANILA — The complexities of love, separation, and moving forward take center stage in The Art of Breaking Up, the latest theatrical production from Teatro Kapamilya based on the acclaimed play “Kung Paano Maghiwalay” by late playwright George de Jesus III.
Described as a story about the tender, messy, and at times humorous unraveling of love, the play follows a series of interconnected characters whose relationships evolve, fracture, and transform over time.
Through fleeting encounters and intertwined lives, the production explores how couples drift apart, hold on, and eventually learn to let go.
Rather than focusing on a single romance, the play weaves together multiple stories that examine the warmth, confusion, heartbreak, and growth that often accompany human relationships.
At its core, the production presents breakups not merely as endings but as experiences that leave lasting lessons and shape a person’s understanding of love, life, and self.
Directed by Dudz Teraña, the production combines drama and music to tell its stories, bringing audiences through the emotional highs and lows of love and loss.
The ensemble cast features Janella Salvador and Nikki Valdez, who alternate in the role of Lou; Jake Cuenca and JC Alcantara as Dino; Ruby Ruiz as Anita; Anna Luna as Kat; and AJ Sison as Jake.
Also joining the production are Brent Manalo, Yen Santos, Jarren Garcia, Kolette Madelo, Yesh Burce, Meann Espinosa, Jel Tarun, Dingdong Bahan, Jude Hinumdum, and Analain Salvador. In one of the play’s featured storylines, Hinumdum portrays Erwin, the partner of Ferdz, played by Bahan.
The stage production is set to run from November 6, 2026 to December 6, 2026, at the PETA Theater Center in Quezon City.
