Brigiding reflects on personal growth one year after ‘Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale’ win
Drag artist Brigiding looked back on her winning moment in Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale as she marked the first anniversary of her victory, reflecting on how the experience taught her to embrace herself and recognize the value of personal growth.
On her Instagram page, Brigiding shared how winning the competition became an opportunity to discover more about herself beyond the crown.
“A year ago, I won a crown. But little did I know, I was about to discover so much more than what winning could ever mean,” the drag queen first wrote.
The drag queen said the journey changed her perspective on success, teaching her that winning goes beyond reaching the top.
“This journey has changed my life in ways I never imagined. It taught me that winning isn’t just about reaching the top, but about having the courage to keep growing, unlearning, and discovering the person you are becoming,” she added.
Brigiding also recalled entering the competition hoping to prove herself, only to come away with a deeper appreciation of her identity and worth.
“I came into @dragraceph Slaysian Royale hoping to prove something to the world. I came out learning how to embrace myself more fully. To trust my own light. To be kinder to myself. And to understand that there is so much more to me beyond the crown,” she said.
Bridgiding went on: “One year later, I am still learning, still growing, and still discovering new parts of myself. And if there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s that the greatest prize isn’t always the crown you win, but the person you become along the way.”
She also thanked the people who supported her throughout the journey, expressing gratitude to those who continued to believe in her: “To everyone who has been part of this beautiful journey, thank you for growing with me, believing in me, and allowing me to shine in my own way. ✨.”
Brigiding emerged as the winner of Drag Race Philippines: Slaysian Royale, besting 11 other Asian drag queens in a season that celebrated the strength, artistry, and creativity of Asian drag. She earned three RuBadges throughout the competition before ultimately claiming the crown.
During her winning speech, Brigiding underscored the importance of learning and perseverance: “This is the testament that learning is the new winning. Please, don’t be afraid to share your story and do not give up on your dreams because dreams don’t expire.”
In an earlier post, Brigiding also described her victory as more than a dream fulfilled, calling it a full-circle moment.
“Winning Slaysian Royale is more than a dream come true- it’s a full-circle story. What started as a small spark became a journey that changed my life forever. Every high and low, every yes and no, is a reminder that learning is the new winning. 💫,” she stated.
Beyond celebrating her milestone, Brigiding is preparing to bring her experimental show CAKE back to the theater stage with LET THEM EAT CAKE, scheduled for November 5 at Teatrino Promenade.
The show is open to audiences aged 18 and above, with tickets available at brigidingcake.veent.net.
