Joy Barcoma explains decision to leave ‘Dogshow Divas’ as guest co-host
Joy Barcoma/Instagram Joy Barcoma recently opened up about leaving the popular “Dogshow Divas” podcast as a guest co-host, saying it was a decision she made not just for herself but also for her fans.
The former beauty queen was asked about the issue as she appeared on “Make Up Sessions,” a podcast by Michelle Dee.
During the interview, Barcoma initially said that she had nothing more to say beyond the statement she released back in September.
But she later pointed out how the sentiments of her fans, collectively called “nakshies,” prompted her to take action.
“Actually hindi talaga ako nagbabasa ng comments, ang mga nakakabasa ‘yung mga nakshie ko. So ‘yung mga fans ko nag-reach out to me na, ‘Ma, nababasa mo ba to?'” she recalled.
“I have personal relationships with my fans… So mas naaapektuhan ako sa fact na naaapektuhan sila sa nangyayari sa akin,” she explained. “Noong sinasabi nila na nasa-sad sila for me na ‘yun ang kino-comment ng mga tao, I had to make the tough decision to step away from the podcast.”
According to Barcoma, she did not want to wait for the negativity surrounding her hosting stint on “Dogshow Divas” to reach the point where it will affect her mental health.
And while she appreciated those who have shown their support, the former Miss Philippines Earth said it was difficult for her to stay in “a space na hindi ka gusto.”
“So parang ako, [naisip ko] iwanan ko na lang or aalis na lang ako sa pod habang masaya pa siya para sa akin. Kaysa magtagal ako at mag-suffer ako in the long run,” she stressed.
Barcoma rose to national prominence after winning the Miss Philippines Earth title last year. She went on to finish as a runner-up in Miss Earth 2025.
After pageantry, Barcoma successfully transitioned into hosting shows and live events. Her first guest appearance on “Dogshow Divas” in February 2026 remains one of the most popular episodes on the podcast.
