Selena Gomez reveals vaping nicotine changed her voice, says she has since quit

Selena Gomez opened up about how vaping nicotine affected her voice.

“I’m not gonna be able to change my voice. I vaped nicotine a lot,” she revealed in a video she posted on her Instagram Stories.

Selena also acknowledged how difficult it can be to quit vaping and discouraged others from trying it.

“Nicotine is so hard to quit, and I think I just wanted to say, if you’re going through it or if you’re even trying to vape, it’s just not worth it,” she pointed out.

She added:  “It’s so stupid. It changed my voice. So if you guys don’t like listening to my voice, that’s totally understandable. I don’t mind. Just don’t listen.”

Selena also shared that she has stopped vaping and expressed hope that she could maintain her progress.

“I am really excited because I stopped and I just hope I can keep it up. That’s really hard. But I know if you are going through something, you can get through it too,” she stated.

Back in December 2025 during an Instagram Live, Selena also addressed a fan question about the changes in her vocal tone.

“Yeah I’ve gotten this question a few times. The voice thing. So, sometimes when I’m on — nevermind… There’s no excuse. I don’t really care,” she said as reported by PEOPLE.

“I think my point is, is that sometimes things happen. I get weird. My throat kind of swells inside sometimes. That’s all,” she added.

Meanwhile, in an interview with PEOPLE in September, Selena shared a glimpse of her married life with Benny Blanco, expressing her gratitude for having a supportive and understanding partner.

“I think we’re still in the honeymoon stage. I love it. It just feels so wonderful to have a partner that actually genuinely listens and just meets you right where you are, whatever that mood or day looks like, and that’s all I could ask for,” she remarked.

Selena also spoke fondly of Benny’s personality, describing him as someone who brings happiness and spontaneity into her life.

“I just need him and I love him so it’s pretty great. He is a very joyful human. He’s very fun, spontaneous, and he loves to talk,” she stated.
