Revilla asks court to file demurrer to evidence in malversation case

Former Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. arrives at the Sandiganbayan in Quezon City on Monday, February 9, 2026, for his scheduled arraignment. MANILA — Former Sen. Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. on Tuesday asked the Sandiganbayan Third Division for permission to file a demurrer to evidence in his malversation case over an alleged ghost flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

A demurrer to evidence seeks the dismissal of a case on the ground that the prosecution’s evidence is insufficient to warrant a conviction.

The division’s clerk of court also confirmed that former Department of Public Works and Highways engineer Jaypee Mendoza, Revilla’s co-accused, had filed a demurrer to evidence in the same case.

The prosecution was given five days from receipt of the motions to file its comment.

Revilla, who has repeatedly denied receiving kickbacks, was earlier granted bail in the malversation case.

His co-accused officials from the DPWH Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office, however, remain detained.
