Cherry Pie Picache, Nikki Valdez, more play pickleball to push healthier lifestyles for Filipinos
Pickleball has been a growing sport in the country and celebrities are joining in the good cause for a better and healthier lifestyle.
Kapamilya stars Cherry Pie Picache and Nikki Valdez were joined by Nicole Cordoves, Michael Flores, Marc Solis, and Jeffrey Santos, among others in an afternoon of friendly competition, camaraderie, and wellness earlier this month at the Activate Battlegrounds in Pasig City.
The event was made possible by PLDT Home Life and mWell–– bridging sports, fun, and wellness for a healthier lifestyle–– which encourages Filipinos to take small, meaningful steps toward healthier living.
The celebrities were paired up and battled it out on the court against the members of the media present at the event–– with Cherry Pie and Marc showcasing their chemistry as doubles partners beating Michael and his partner, 11-0.
The Kapamilya actress even took home the Most Competitive Award for the day as she bested all other players in the friendly tournament.
More than just a gathering of Pickleball enthusiasts, it was also a day filled with promoting a holistic approach to wellness that includes regular physical activity, preventive healthcare, mental well-being, and convenient access to medical professionals.
The event also emphasized that staying healthy is not only about exercising or eating right, but also building the everyday habits that could take better care for the physical and mental well-being.
PLDT Home Life has partnered up with mWell to make healthcare more accessible, convenient, and affordable for Filipino families. Evert Chris Miranda, the Vice President and Head of Home Digital Services of PLDT Home stressed the importance of making sure good health starts at home.
“In today’s challenging economic environment, embracing one’s physical and mental well-being is essential for every household. In times like these, we cannot afford to wait for illness to strike before paying attention to our health, and possibly make things worse. That’s why good health has to start at home,” she said.
Gary Dujali, the Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer of mWell added how their partnership can lead to accessibility to top-tier medical doctors and professionals all year round.
“Healthcare should be a fundamental right, not an overwhelming financial burden… Through this partnership with PLDT Home Life, we are happy to further democratize access to top-tier medical doctors, mental health professionals, and health monitoring tools. For less than the cost of a single face-to-face consultation, an entire family now has access and can stay protected all year round,” he ended.
