From sweet confessions to stolen kiss: 10 kilig ‘da moves’ of Gabo to Sam in “Coco Martin’s Sigabo”
Who would have thought that the initially tumultuous chance encounter between Gabo (Coco Martin) and Sam (Julia Montes) in “Coco Martin’s Sigabo” would eventually blossom into a kilig-filled romance as they pose as husband and wife?
Just when Gabo thought he already had no chance with Sam because of their starkly different backgrounds —she’s an exemplary law enforcement agent from the NCIA, while he’s an ex-convict who has just been released from prison after eight years—he found a glimmer of hope when she unexpectedly (and literally!) fell into his arms one night as he prayed for God to finally send him the woman he would love for the rest of his life.
Thus, when Gloria pretended to have amnesia as part of her personal mission to continue investigating Gabo’s possible affiliation to the illegal drug syndicate led by Victor “El Tigre” Zafra (JM de Guzman), Gabo played along by giving her the name “Gloria” and claiming that she was his “wife,” whom he had met during their time at the national correctional facility.
As their supposedly fake marriage gradually blossoms into a budding romance, let’s revisit 10 kilig scenes from “Sigabo” that show Gabo’s romantic moves to win Sam’s heart in this episode of Kapamilya Toplist.
On Sam’s first day as Gloria, Gabo fully committed to his fabricated story about how they met and got married while in prison, convincingly playing the role of her husband. He reminded Gloria what he had promised her before his release: that he would love and take good care of her once she got out of jail. He even professed his undying love for her, declaring that she was the love of his life before pulling her into a tight embrace—much to Gloria’s disgust.
Gabo found another opportunity to make ‘advances’ on Sam when he suggested that they hide under the sheets, fearing that his stepmother, Betchay (Irma Adlawan), would be furious if she discovered Sam’s presence. As Sam accused him of trying to take advantage of her, Gabo reminded her that there shouldn’t be a problem since they were already husband and wife, and even asked her for a hug, only to be turned down by her.
During the birthday celebration of his father, Rudy (Joey Marquez), Gabo seized the opportunity to express his feelings for Sam by serenading her. Their kilig moments together seemed to flash before his eyes, taking him back to the very first time their paths intertwined during the bus robbery incident when he deliberately kissed her while she was performing CPR on him.
Their memories continued with their chance encounter at a club in Binondo, where they pursued separate missions against Victor, and when Gabo took care of Sam following her unexpected arrival at their home. Gabo’s romantic gesture proved effective, leaving Sam and everyone around them kilig, especially when he declared “I love you” over the microphone as soon as his song number ended.
What was supposed to be a simple bedroom-cleaning session turned into a heart-melting confession for Gabo as he disclosed his genuine feelings for Gloria. He told her that he never expected her to become part of his life and wished that he wasn’t only dreaming and everything was for real. Just as he was about to kiss her, Sam managed to dodge his attempt, leaving him slumped on the bed. Poor Gabo!
Their kilig moment that day didn’t just end there, as Gabo found yet another way to get closer to Sam—this time, through doing the laundry. As he recounted how much he enjoyed playing with bubbles and soap suds while washing clothes as a young boy, the couple recreated his favorite childhood pastime, much to the delight of his family who watched them enjoy the moment together.
As Gabo prepared to go job hunting, Sam showed her support by helping him fill out the biodata he would submit to potential employers and coached him on how to answer common interview questions. Their entertaining mock interview eventually took a romantic turn when Gabo suddenly held Sam’s hand and kissed it, catching her completely off guard.
Sam also provided Gabo with the clothes he would wear for his job application and discovered that the pants were actually ripped and needed stitching. Since he didn’t know how to sew, Gabo came to the rescue and demonstrated to her how it was done—while also trying to make advances on her for the umpteenth time. He failed once again, however, as Gloria caught on to what he was doing while threading the needle and took over the task herself.
The same thing happened during one of their serious conversations, when Gabo professed his willingness to put his life on the line for Sam, even if it meant sacrificing his own life. He vowed never to let her come to harm, as he would always be by her side to protect and care for her because that was how deeply he loved her. Just when he thought that he had built enough momentum to finally get her agree to at least a kiss, Gabo was proven wrong once more as Sam managed to evade his ‘advances.’
Since his sweet and sincere lines failed to win Sam over, Gabo decided to take a bolder step by inviting her for an inuman session, which she gamely accepted. He may have appeared serious at first as he told her that the person she saw in front of her wasn’t real, but Gabo eventually made the conversation lighter by disclosing the real reason why he invited her for a drink.
Taking the playful modern Filipino saying, “Kapag may alak, may balak” to heart, he hoped that Sam would finally give in to his long-standing advances as their way of celebrating his anticipated success in landing a decent job. Unfortunately for him, his plan fell through again as he got too drunk.
After countless attempts, Gabo finally managed to kiss Sam, thanks to his ever-supportive friends—except for Tekla (Sue Ramirez), who strongly opposed the idea. As he set off for the day, his friends teased Gloria into giving Gabo a goodbye and good luck kiss, to which she obliged, provided that the kiss would only be on his cheek. But after he agreed to her condition, Gabo caught her off guard by turning his head at the last second, causing their lips to touch.
