Less Hustle, More Groove: IDLEPITCH Drops New Song “Sige Lang” | One Music PH
Naga-based band IDLEPITCH keeps the groove alive with “Sige Lang,” out independently today via Underdog Music Asia. Seamlessly integrating retro funk and ‘70s Motown sensibilities with contemporary pop production, the six-piece band continues to take their sound to refreshing new places while maintaining the tight musicianship they’re known for.
Written by vocalist Jude Serrano, “Sige Lang” reminds people to find joy in the simplest things in life, despite the hassles of work and professional demands. The song encourages listeners to slow down, breathe, and make room for what truly matters at the moment.
“Payong kaibigan siya in the form of a song,” Serrano explains, framing the track with a lesson that life should be about more than simply getting by. Bassist Jeff Dy echoes the same sentiment, emphasizing the importance of balance in navigating life’s daily challenges. “Minsan kailangan din nating mag-relax, tumawa, at magpasalamat sa mga bagay na mayroon tayo ngayon. Life is short e,” he says.
“Sige Lang” draws heavily on artists like Stevie Wonder and Filipino funk/disco acts such as Kala and VST & Co. Arranged by guitarist Herbert Belbes, the track pairs an infectious rhythm section with lively horn arrangements, modern pop songwriting, and a clavinet solo, ensuring the buoyant, dance-ready groove complements the earnestness of the songwriting.
IDLEPITCH’s new single also allows a little musical experimentation without losing sight of the band’s goal of bringing people together. With “Sige Lang,” the band delivers an uplifting soundtrack for anyone navigating the daily grind, reminding us to keep moving, find reasons to celebrate, and enjoy the ride.
