Ella Pangilinan, Enrique Miranda open up about being new parents

MANILA — Content creator and designer Ella Pangilinan and her husband, Enrique Miranda, opened up about their experience as first-time parents and how their son, Fernando, has changed their lives.

“Fernando is our answered prayer,” the daughter of Maricel Laxa and Anthony Pangilinan, said In the latest vlog of broadcaster Karen Davila. 

“Yes, that’s for sure,” Miranda agreed.

“It took a while for us to have a child, and so when I was finally pregnant, we were really overjoyed. And that was a journey for us too. Like, we were going through counseling because I didn’t know what was going on with my mood swings and my hormones Enrique was like ‘what’s happening here,'” added Pangilinan, whowas grateful that she had a relatively smooth pregnancy for the most part.

Miranda also recalled the day their son was born, describing how he stayed by Pangilinan’s side throughout labor and delivery.

“I was there. I was present. I was a participant. She labored long, but the delivery was fast, very fast,” he said.

Miranda recalled holding his wife’s hand and reassuring her that everything would be all right as she prepared to give birth. When he finally saw their son, he was struck by the moment.

“Wow, he is beautiful,” he recalled saying before another thought hit him: “Oh, my God, and now it begins.”

Becoming a mother herself,  Pangilinan shared that she now gets to understand her mother more. 

“I understand her more and she understands me. It was very healing for us. And I’m so happy to live five minutes away from her. That’s one of the reasons why Enrique was like, ‘We should live near your parents, because one day when we have a family, you’re gonna need it.’ And so that’s the day, and I couldn’t be more grateful for that privilege,” she said.

“I have so much respect for mothers because it’s like you go through a rebirth, and then you’re getting to know who are you now,” she added.

In the vlog, the couple also talked about their love story, their relationship as husband and wife, as well as their values and faith.  

Pangilinan and Miranda, who is a descendant of the Lhuillier family and is the brother of Sofia Andres’s partner, Daniel Miranda, got married at Puerta Real Gardens in Intramuros in December 2023. They welcomed their son last June.

Ella has four other siblings — sisters Hannah and Solana and brothers Benjamin and actor Donny Pangilinan.
