MANILA — Four pilots died in an “aviation accident” at the Fernando Air Base in Lipa City, Batangas on Friday, the Philippine Air Force confirmed.

In a statement on Saturday, PAF said the four pilots died during the incident that involved two SF-260 aircraft.

“Both aircraft went down within the base perimeter, with no other casualties reported,” the Air Force said.

The PAF also expressed grief over the loss of the four pilots.

“With deep sorrow, the Philippine Air Force mourns the loss of four pilots in an aviation accident involving two SF-260 aircraft during a training flight at Fernando Air Base on October 23, 2026,” the PAF said.

The Air Force said an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

“As a precautionary safety measure,” all SF-260 aircraft have been temporarily grounded, the PAF added.

“The PAF is providing necessary assistance to the bereaved families and respectfully appeals to the public to respect their privacy during this difficult time,” the statement read.

“May our fallen aviators’ courage, dedication, and service be remembered, and may their souls rest in eternal peace,” the PAF said.
