Carlos Yulo misses World Championship podium floor in Rotterdam

Double Olympic champion Carlos Yulo scored 13.233 to place eighth in the men’s floor exercise final at the FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

Yulo was unable to stick his landing on one pass, falling on the mat. He tallied 5.800 for difficulty and 7.633 in execution. He received a .10-point bonus but was given a 0.30-point penalty.

The Filipino history-maker had qualified for the final in second place.

American Fred Richard won his first world gold medal.

Fil-British Jake Jarman took silver, while Israel’s Artem Dolgopyat earned bronze.

Earlier this year, Richard said on social media that he would win gold at this year’s Worlds.

Yulo advanced to the floor final after scoring 14.500 in qualification, good for second behind Arseniy Dukhno’s 14.700.

Yulo will look to bounce back in the vault final on Sunday (Manila time).
