PH Navy rescues fisherman stranded at sea off Occidental Mindoro

The Philippine Navy has rescued a fisherman who was stranded in the waters for nine days off Occidental Mindoro.

According to the Philippine Navy, its Naval Command West through BRP Ramon Alcaraz (PS41) spotted the fisherman signaling for assistance during their maritime patrol mission in the vicinity of Cape Calavite at 5 p.m.

The Navy vessel immediately provided assistance to the distressed fisherman.

The 31-year-old fisherman from Occidental Mindoro was stranded at sea for nine days after his banca suffered engine malfunction.

He had gone without fresh water in his duration at sea.

The fisherman immediately received immediate medical attention, including blood pressure monitoring and the administration of oral rehydration salts to address signs of dehydration.

The Navy said the recovered banca was safely secured at the fantail of the rescuing vessel.
