Darren Espanto gets up close and personal with fans in intimate Backyard Live show

MANILA — Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto brought his music closer to fans as he headlined an intimate, 360-degree show “Backyard Live Spotlight: Darren” on Sunday, giving his loyal Darrenatics a chance to connect with him through music and nostalgia.

Limited to just 360 tickets, the show offered a different concert experience, with the singer performing at the center of the venue to give audiences a close-up view of the show.

“Na-realize kong nakaka-miss ‘yung ganun ka-intimate, ganun kalapit sa crowd, and all,” Darren said.

“‘Yung venue was a different experience that… parang walang bad seat in the house because I’m literally in the middle of the whole thing,” he added.

Darren serenaded fans with performances of his songs “Bibitaw Na,” “ANNAB (Ako Na Nga Ang Bahala),” “Di Makaramdam,” and “Iyo,” among others, curating a setlist that blended different musical experiences with nostalgic songs from the past.

He also emphasized the importance of connecting with listeners who continue to stream his music and support his career, saying the show was especially dedicated to his fans.

“This is really for the Darrenatics na laging nakasuporta at alam mo ‘yon, I’m able to connect to them more tonight,” he expressed.

Some of the hosts of “It’s Showtime” also joined the event, including Jackie Gonzaga, Jhong Hillario, Vhong Navarro, Teddy Corpuz, and Amy Perez. Darren shared that Cianne Dominguez had also planned to attend, but learned she had entered the “Pinoy Big Brother” house before the show.

“It’s really nice to just have that kind of support system, on and off cam, from the ‘Showtime’ family, as well,” he said.

Darren also thanked the Darrenatics for standing by him throughout his 12-year career in the industry. “Maraming salamat sa suporta niyo for 12 years. It’s been a while since we’ve had a show this intimate,” he expressed.
