Released on Monday, the extended play (EP) titled “Hey, Somebody” features five tracks, including Chinese and English versions of its lead single of the same title.
The single “Hey, Somebody” is an uplifting midtempo track about discovering one’s self-worth, SM Entertainment said in a press statement.
The song talks about initially feeling like a “nobody” to becoming a “somebody,” delivering a message of self-acceptance and comfort.
The release also fulfills the 27-year-old artist’s personal commitment to share strength and positivity through his music.
“This album is part of fulfilling a promise I made to myself,” he said.
“Ever since my debut, I’ve wanted to be an artist who could give people even a little bit of strength and positive energy through my music. I’ve always believed that this is part of my role and responsibility as a singer,” he added.
The singer, born Xiao Dejun, rose to fame as a member of NCT, a K-pop boy group with more than 20 members organized into various sub-units.
